TRAMHAUS

Tramhaus is a live wire five-piece band from Rotterdam, heralded for their energetic shows and riveting song material. The band is known for their broad and ever-electrifying sound that reaches from post-hardcore to shoegaze to punk rock. This amalgam is a product of the diverse and rich musical tastes of its members. Nonetheless, in a live setting the band forms a strong union. It makes sure to grab the audience from the first to the last note in a maelstrom of emotions. In its short
existence, the symbiotic group toured endlessly, gaining popularity along the way.

Formed in 2020, with members still in various other acts, their first public appearance was a live session, soon followed by a debut 7” single. In those first years the band quickly found an audience, performing in most of the grassroots venues and festivals in and around The Netherlands. The buzz continued with the release of the ‘Rotterdam’ EP, featuring trademark, socially engaged single ‘Make it Happen’.

Debut album ‘The First Exit’ came out in September 2024. It was hailed as ‘album of the week’ by Dutch music platform 3voor12, and the three biggest newspapers reviewed it with five out of five stars, the Volkskrant adding the sold-out Paradiso release party to the perfect score a week after. Their music got airplay from BBC 6 Music, KEXP Seattle and Iggy Pop, and internationally featured by dozens of bigger and smaller music magazines and websites.

The album was promoted during several international tours, finding new audiences and destinations. In 2024, Tramhaus played 125 shows, of which 94 happened in 22 countries. Many of these concerts and tours happen in cooperation with an organic, grassroots international network of independent agencies and promoters, bringing the band also to audiences outside of the regular touring circuit, for instance in Moldova and Kosovo. In 2023, the band set up a five-day tour across Japan, followed a year and a half later by a bigger Asian tour; adding four new destinations. A third Asian tour is scheduled for September 2026.

In The Netherlands, Tramhaus performed at most of the key festivals, including Best Kept Secret and Lowlands. Their 2023 sold-out show in the illustrious club VERA in Groningen was voted best of the year by visitors, leading to the band being the first ever Dutch band to be immortalized on the walls of the main hall.

Across Europe the band performed on four corners of the continent, from Tromsø to Tallinn and from the Azores to Istanbul, including shows at leading festivals like Primavera Sound, Sziget, Colours of Ostrava, Dour, Paredes de Coura, Beaches Brew and Release Athens. Outside of Europe, Tramhaus played at SXSW24 and is scheduled for Zandari Festa 2026.

The second Tramhaus album ‘Blister’ will be released on 9 October 2026. The first single ‘Plovdiv’, written partly during an off day in this Bulgarian city, is out on 3 June. The album was recorded & mixed by Floyd Atema in GAM Studio and mastered by Tammo Kersbergen.

The album is released by a coalition of independent European labels: Subroutine Records (Netherlands), Vicious Circle (France), Siluh Records (Austria), Bronson Recordings (Italy), Lovers & Lollypops (Portugal) and Peleton Records (Poland). This international cooperation works in a similar vein to the way the band chooses to work with representations, prioritizing organic, grassroots relations.
